2.16Member Generation
After the first member is defined, a whole row of members may be created by making multiple copies of the first member while incrementing its start and end joints (J1 and J2). For example, members 2 through 5 in Figure 2-9 are generated by copying members 1 four times, while incrementing its J1 and J2 by the value 1. Similarly, members 6 through 10 in Figure 2-9are generated by copying members 1 through 5 once, while incrementing their J1 by 31 and their J2 by 19.

Generated members are labeled with sequential numbers starting with the number of members already input prior to the generation process. If for some reason, a generated member label is already used, an underscore (_) followed by a number is appended to the label.
